why
I've always been a sucker for a magazine. It started with OWL as a kid in the 70s. I was given a subscription as a bribe to continue with the Brownies, which I, a shy child, loathed. In Junior High in the US, feeling overwhelmed by the whole pre-teen of it all, I would escape to the school library and flip through graphic design journals. An odd choice for an angsty thirteen-year-old, yes, but the journal format gave a sense of order amid the social chaos. As a teenager, it was Sassy. The content felt so edgy in its realness. And of course, as I journey past my second decade in interior design, I’ve read every design publication from all over the world that I could get my hands on. I dreamed of seeing a project featured in Architectural Digest. I really miss the early days when my clients would bring in pages ripped from their favourite magazine as inspiration.
So starting this space, I couldn't help but celebrate the nostalgia of the print magazine. Articles that share clear messages and empowering ideas, with an editorial vibe that feels friendly and welcoming.
It's why I chose this amazing Tonic template, Amaretto Sour.
