I've witnessed how their spaces have let them down, perpetuating dysfunction and disharmony. I've had the honour of helping people better support their lifestyles and deepen their connections to their homes.
In my career as an Interior Designer, I've had the rare opportunity to step into my clients' home and view their lives uncensored, with all their messiness and joy.
For 18 years, Lorin has been leading the Interior Design Team at the award-winning Design and Build Firm, Zebra Group.Located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

I've spent the past twenty years trying to understand how we best create a sense of who we are through spatial connection. I have worked on hundreds of homes and I still marvel how home holds a unique meaning to us all. Working in the beautiful landscape of Vancouver Island, from oceanfront award winners, to suburban renos to downtown condos, all projects are so vastly different because of the complex people who inhabit them. I've won over 40 design awards, written for local magazines and design websites. I love guiding people to make the best design decisions that positively support their lifestyles and families. I have been craving connection that extends beyond my local community. For finding a common bond that, as humans, grounds us with purpose. I believe that there is a path to connection found through the language of space and design. One that offers a greater understanding of our shared challenges and collective needs.
My secret passion was acting and storytelling (inspired by the awesomeness of the Muppets). And while the grown up (still shy) version of me pursued this perceived destiny, once walked, it never felt like it was my true path. I still wanted to create, but I knew that my creativity needed to be grounded in a more pragmatic, structural dimension. So, recalling those transitory childhood years when home was an ever-changing blank space, I went to design school.
I was a military child, who moved every few years, terrified by the unknowable process of how to make friends, preferring my bedroom, my little retreat from the strangeness of a new place.
I never thought I would choose this journey. As a super shy child, I submersed myself in my imagination, finding security in the dreamy worlds formed by books and stuffed animals.
